SMS Alert Notifications

2. About SMS Alerts

Forgetful Farmer LLC offers optional SMS (text message) alerts to help farm operators respond quickly when their nitrogen tanks need attention. These messages are strictly transactional and time-sensitive. We do not send marketing, promotional, or advertising content via SMS.

3. What Messages You Will Receive

If you opt in, you may receive text messages for the following alert types:

  • Critical level: Tank level has dropped to a critical threshold requiring immediate attention.
  • Low level: Tank level is low and approaching the reorder point.
  • Sensor offline: A sensor has stopped reporting and may need physical inspection.
  • Rapid level drop: An unusually fast decline in tank level has been detected.

Order-related notifications are sent through the channels you configure in Settings. SMS is used for tank alerts, not marketing.

Sample alert messages

  • Critical level: Forgetful Farmer: CRITICAL - North Barn LN2 Tank at Main Storage at 4.8% - act now. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • Low level: Forgetful Farmer: LOW - West Pasture Feed Tank at Main Storage at 18.5% - consider reorder. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • Sensor offline: Forgetful Farmer: OFFLINE - North Barn LN2 Tank at Main Storage stopped reporting. Check sensor. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • Rapid level drop: Forgetful Farmer: RAPID LOSS - West Pasture Feed Tank at Main Storage dropping fast (42.1%). Check for leaks. Reply STOP to opt out.

4. How You Opt In

Users opt in to SMS alerts by logging in and navigating to Settings → Notifications → SMS — available in both the mobile app (iOS / Android) and the web dashboard. They enter their mobile phone number, check the explicit consent checkbox, and tap Add. The checkbox is unchecked by default and must be actively selected before a number can be saved. SMS is optional and is not required to use the service.

No phone number can be added without actively checking the consent box. The SMS checkbox is separate from email notification preferences and is never pre-selected.

Before your phone number is saved, you must agree to the following consent statement:

“I agree to receive text messages (SMS) from Forgetful Farmer LLC at the phone number provided. Messages are transactional alerts only (tank level critical, tank level low, sensor offline, rapid level drop). Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Not required to use the service.”

5. Message Frequency and Rates

Message frequency varies based on the number of tanks and sensors you monitor and the conditions they experience. You may receive multiple messages in a short period if several alerts trigger at once, or no messages for extended periods if conditions are normal.

During active incidents, several tanks going offline, or fast liquid-level drops, you may receive multiple messages in a short period until conditions change or alerts are acknowledged.

Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Forgetful Farmer LLC does not charge for SMS alerts.

6. How to Opt Out

Reply STOP to any message to opt out of SMS from Forgetful Farmer LLC. We record opt-outs and disable SMS delivery for that number. You may also disable or delete SMS channels from Settings → Notification Channels in the app.

The following opt-out keywords are honored when sent as a standalone message to our SMS sender: STOP, STOPALL, STOP ALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT. We process STOP requests and record opt-outs. SMS delivery is disabled for opted-out numbers when we process your request.

7. Data Sharing and Privacy

Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with our SMS infrastructure provider for the sole purpose of delivering alert messages.

8. Deliverability and Safety

SMS alerts are designed to help operators respond faster, but SMS delivery is not guaranteed. Mobile carriers may delay, filter, or reject messages, and handset connectivity can affect receipt. Forgetful Farmer SMS alerts are not a life-safety system and should not be your only process for monitoring critical assets.

9. Carrier Identifier

Alerts originate from: Verified Telnyx sender shown in each received message. Replies to other Forgetful Farmer phone numbers, email addresses, or support channels may not reach the SMS alert program. To opt out, reply STOP directly to the SMS alert sender.
